Modern audio technology at the university

Whether it’s an info event, a panel discussion, a public lecture or an exam – the event hall at HFT Stuttgart (University of Applied Sciences) is used throughout the year for a wide variety of events. Consequently, the demands placed on the sound system in the approximately 240 m² hall, which can accommodate around 350 people across two levels, are correspondingly high. As the existing equipment was becoming increasingly outdated, HFT Stuttgart decided to modernise its media technology in stages. For the new sound system, the integrator responsible, PPM Stuttgart, opted for a discreet yet flexible system based on the compact LD Systems CURV 500 array system.

An expedition in sound and light

With the world premiere of “GIGA - Experiencia Antártica”, a spectacular exhibition will open in summer 2025 in the newly created Cúpula Arenas in Barcelona, taking visitors on a virtual journey to the “White Continent”. The driving force behind the project is the international platform GIGA (Grand Immersive Gallery), which is setting new standards on the cultural scene with its immersive experiences. The film was directed by none other than Luc Jacquet, Oscar-winning filmmaker of March of the Penguins, who, together with the team at Icebreaker Studios, has developed an audiovisual narrative that combines scientific findings, artistic imagery and state-of-the-art projection technology. On more than 2,000 square metres, a multi-sensory journey unfolds in the Cúpula Arenas with large-scale 360° projections, original sound recordings and impressive soundscapes. The AV installation by SGroup Equipement – realised with products by LD Systems and Cameo – provides the perfect sound and lighting experience.

Multi-zone audio system in the Banken Food Hall

Thai food, bowls, flatbreads, burgers, or simply a superb coffee – when you enter the Banken Food Hall in Aarhus, Denmark, the choice is all up to you. Covering an area of around 2,000 square metres, the indoor food court combines eight different culinary options that are used by thousands of visitors every day. The Danish AV integrator ProGear was responsible for the multi-zone sound system of the former historic bank building dating back to the 19th century and utilised a LD Systems’ Dante-based audio system from the Adam Hall Integrated Systems portfolio.

LD Systems CURV 500 on Avalon Waterways' Cruise Ships

Since 2004, the cruise ships of the Avalon Waterways shipping company have been sailing the major rivers in Europe, Africa, Asia and South America. The company's fleet is constantly growing and now comprises 20 ships with a length of up to 135 metres and room for up to 166 passengers. Since 2023, five identical Avalon ships have been sailing in Europe with an LD Systems CURV 500 sound system in the central lobby area.

EsKlandestino relies on audio and lighting technology from LD Systems and Cameo

The EsKlandestino event location in Barcelona, Spain, offers an atmospheric environment for a variety of event types – from private parties to gala evenings and product presentations, to concerts and recording sessions. To be able to offer the premises – with its open roof construction of steel girders and wooden beams – to the widest possible clientele, the operators have recently invested in modern audio and lighting technology. In addition to four individual audio and sound zones, the sophisticated lighting concept, in combination with the building's architecture, creates an atmospheric ambience in each area. For the implementation of the sound and lighting design, the two service providers – DotPlusAV (technical planning) and Elenco Audiovisión (delivery and installation) – relied entirely on solutions from Cameo and LD Systems.

Immersive Theatre Production with LD Systems CURV 500 at the Sejong Centre in Seoul, Korea

The Sejong Centre in Seoul, South Korea is the artistic centre point of the city and combines ancient Korean cultural symbolism and modern performance forms in an exemplary way. A perfect example of this was provided by the play “In This Garden We Loved”. Performed in the intimate atmosphere of the Sejong S Theatre – the theatre’s experimental stage – the artistic directors decided to use an immersive audio system to draw the audience acoustically into the beautifully lit garden landscape of the stage set. The integrator in charge, Sonic Value, used an LD Systems CURV 500 system for the all-round sound reinforcement.

LD Systems CURV® 500 at the Arts & Design Faculty in Timisoara, Romania

Good design takes on everyday problems and solves them with new approaches and efficient concepts. The Faculty of Art and Design at the West University in Timisoara, Romania, was also confronted with this challenge – but had to resort to specialists from outside the field to solve the problem for once. Presentations, award ceremonies, small concerts and events regularly take place in the faculty’s converted attic. Unfortunately, the large room – with its old wooden beams and high, pointed roof – doesn’t just stand out for its works of art and design, but also for its room acoustics, which are difficult to tame. This was a special challenge – and one which almost seems like it was tailor-made for the specialists from Media Crusher Srl to take on with the LD Systems CURV® 500 Portable Array System.

LD Systems sound system in Lil' Amsterdam

People arrive at or leave from railway stations, with the functional transport hubs rarely offering much more. Amsterdam Centraal Station, in the heart of the Dutch capital, has stood out from the crowd since its opening in the late 19th century and belongs on every tourist's to-do list thanks to its neo-Renaissance building. Since this year, the country's second largest railway station has offered another attraction: Lil' Amsterdam. The coordinator, DJ-verkoop, relied on various LD Systems products to provide sound for the stylish shopping and gastronomy area on the lower level of the station.

LD Systems CURV 500 Fills the New Millennium Reformed Center in Romania with Sound

If it takes 21 years to build a church, then the result must be something truly extraordinary. Nothing could be closer to the truth in the case of the New Millennium Reformed Center in the Romanian city of Timișoara, which has 300,000 inhabitants – even if construction was repeatedly suspended due to a lack of financial resources. On December 15, 2019, which marked the 30th anniversary of the 1989 Romanian Revolution, the congregation celebrated the opening of the spectacular church. The unusual design of the church, featuring a high dome in the center, was particularly challenging for the system integrators from the Timișoara-based company Media Crusher SRL, who found exactly what they were looking for in a (sound) solution with the LD Systems CURV® 500 array system.

The first Soho House opened in London in 1995 as a “home for creatives” from the art, advertising and media sectors – and rode the crest of the co-working wave. Today, the Soho project extends over 23 clubs worldwide and offers its members not only 24/7 working spaces, but also accommodates events and conferences of all kinds. As with all Soho facilities, when designing Soho House in central Copenhagen, great importance was placed on a simultaneously urban, hip and sophisticated interior. When it came to the sound system, for integrator Allan Reenberg and the customer, only a CURV 500® array system from LD Systems® would do.

Admittedly, Denmark’s Mølholm church in the community of the same name does not boast a hundred-year history. Constructed and consecrated in the 1950s, the classical architecture and sleek elegance of the small house of God nevertheless provide a reverent setting for church services, christenings, weddings, funerals and even spiritual and secular concerts. Despite its young age, in 2019 the time had come to find a suitable replacement for the obsolete sound system. It did not take long for the Danish integrator All Stage to choose the compact and flexible CURV 500 array system from LD Systems.

Tex-Mex cuisine comes from the USA and combines elements of Mexican cuisine with dishes and ingredients from America or from the southern American states. This crossover mixture is even highly regarded in France – the homeland of sophisticated gastronomy – as proven by the successful Le Fender Tex-Mex in the port of Brest in Brittany. So that diners at France’s first Tex-Mex restaurant, which opened in 1995, could also enthuse about the acoustic highlights in addition to the culinary delights, the owners of Le Fender went in search of a suitable sound system for their location.
